How to Change the Hinge on Wahl KMX Clipper


Old hinge can get you into all sorts of headaches. Your KMX could potentially not cut properly during a grooming session because the blade assembly is simply just too loose.


In this article, I'll guide you step-by-step on how to replace your Wahl KMX Clipper's hinge so you can go on your day without having to worry about anything else than grooming dogs.



In general, the old hinge is replaced by unscrewing it off the clipper and installing a new one.

How to Change the Hinge on Wahl KMX Cordless Clipper

Things you’ll need:

  • Torx 10 screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Replacement Hinge
  • Replacement Blade Latch


How to Change the Hinge on Wahl KMX Cordless Clipper | Sharp Edges

Step 1: Remove the Old Hinge and Blade Latch


Grab your screwdriver with Torx 10 bit and unfasten the hinge. The blade latch can weaken over time so I recommend replacing it together with your hinge.

Step 2: Assemble the New Hinge and Blade Latch



You'll find 2 tiny holes on your blade latch. The pins found at the bottom of the hinge go through those holes. You'll hear a click sound once they are secured in place.


Step 3: Installing the New Hinge and Blade Latch


Lay the hinge and blade latch assembly on your Wahl KMX Clipper. The blade latch should be the one at the back and the hinge should be at the top facing you. Grab your Torx 10 bit screwdriver and fasten them in place.


And that is how easy it is to change the hinge on your Wahl KMX Clipper.
